第5课：What was the consequence of the editor’s insistence on facts and statistics？
报刊杂志的编纂常常为了向读者提供一些不关紧急的内幕和统计数字而走向极度。
Last year a journalist had been instructed by a well-known magazine to write an article on the president’s palace in a new African republic.客岁，一位记者受一家出名的杂志的委托写一篇关于非洲某个新建立共和国总统府。

Meanwhile，the editor was getting impatient，for the magazine would soon go to press.与此同时，编纂开头不耐心了，由于杂志坏了。
He sent the journalist two more faxes，but received no reply.他又给记者发了两份传真，但没有reply。
He sent yet another fax informing the journalist that if he did not reply soon he would be fired.他又发了一份传真，关照那位记者说，假如不尽快回复，他将被开除。
When the journalist again failed to reply，the editor reluctantly reply，但记者照旧没有回复。编纂被动，委曲原样发稿了。
一周后，编纂终于收到了记者发来的传真。这个不幸的人不仅被拘捕了，并且还被进了牢狱。不外，他终于获准发了一份传真，在传中他关照编纂他被拘捕了，就在他数通向15英尺高的总统府围墙的1084级台阶时，被抓了起来。
